The South Carolina Career Mapping Program must therefore operate through existing technical college districts that already host career assessments rather than creating standalone platforms.

Applicants must demonstrate prior success placing high school students into paid internships at manufacturing or logistics firms along the I-85 and I-26 corridors, where the majority of dual-enrollment growth has occurred.
South Carolina contains three distinct economic regions: the Upstate manufacturing belt, the Midlands government and research cluster, and the Lowcountry port economy. Each region maintains different internship availability and different technical college capacities. Operators must therefore submit separate placement targets for each region rather than a single statewide number.
Unlike Georgia or North Carolina programs, South Carolina requires explicit demonstration of integration with the existing dual-enrollment tuition waiver system and compliance with state procurement rules that govern payments to private assessment vendors.
Who Should Apply in South Carolina
Technical colleges or regional workforce boards already reporting to the South Carolina Technical College System hold operational advantage. Applications must include letters of support from at least two technical college presidents and evidence that the proposed digital platform can export data to the state’s longitudinal system without additional middleware.
Application requirements include submission of sample career assessment reports aligned to the 16 career clusters recognized by the South Carolina Department of Education. Budgets must separate platform licensing fees from site-visit transportation costs, with clear per-student caps tied to existing dual-enrollment reimbursement rates.
